I am sitting in front of the fire in the beautiful and picturesque Gordon Arms Hotel that is nestled comfortably in the Yarrow valley, listening to some of Scotland’s finest female vocalists of today. After a few fantastic gigs in the north of England I feel completely at peace in this wonderful part of the world. I can almost see the ghosts of the great poets and writers that would have sat in this very room and in front of this very fireplace telling stories, singing songs to one another and catching up on the latest political battles. It would appear that not much has changed over the centuries.
Its raining heavy at the moment but that just adds to the charm and warmth of this wee place and as I sit relaxing, waiting on tonight’s Real Time CD launch, I am able to finally catch up on some much needed paper work before we head off to Germany for two weeks.
My husband will be joining us this evening for his first ever Real Time gig. Time and children don’t allow him to come to many of my gigs now but I am delighted that he can see us perform tonight. We will then travel back home to Glasgow and tomorrow I get to spend a full day with him and our beautiful wee boys before I fly out to Germany on Tuesday morning.
I am full of excitement and I am very much looking forward to catching up with our German friends but also filled with the sadness and guilt of a working mother…….. thank goodness for FaceTime
